We’re all about finding little ways to live more sustainably and changing our fashion habits is one of them. Now we’re not saying we’re gonna create a whole new wardrobe but making something with our own two hands, like knitting a scarf or a jumper, is a good start. That’s where the likes of We Are Knitters come in. Founded by María José Marín and Alberto Bravo, We Are Knitters opens up the world of knitting with their kits and yarn. There are four levels of kit – beginner, easy, intermediate and advanced – so you can get involved no matter how handy you are (or not as the case may be) with the needles. And they’ve got kits for pretty much everything, from crochet, arm knitting and petit point to womenswear, menswear and accessories. You can even knit something for your pooch.

The gorgeous fiber tools — crochet hooks, knitting needles and more — on Molly’s website, Celtic Swan Forge, owe their artistry to Molly’s partnership with her husband, John Sheeran, who passed away in 2015. Raised on Long Island, Molly met John in New York “on a bench outside a semiconductor distribution center,” where both worked. She introduced herself, and the couple started sharing the bench, talking. “It took us years to get together,” Molly relates, but their marriage began a mutual journey of geography and craft.

Join us for a raucous evening of WDYM hosted by John Del Sordo and the BIB crew. If you’ve never played, it’s like Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity, but with memes and NSFW (except for us of course, because we work here.)

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? There is plenty of available street parking.

John was a “recreational hitchhiker” who had already “hitchhiked his initials in cursive” across the country, and in the late ‘70s, he convinced Molly to join him. Over three months they hitched to snowy upstate New York, down to the Florida Keys, out to southern California and up to Eugene, Oregon, “sleeping wherever we could manage,” including under a leaky bridge. Molly says, “It was very challenging, but I grew to love it.”

All participants have the opportunity to complete national opinion ballots for each session, which the FPA puts in a report to the White House, the Departments of State and Defense, members of Congress, the media and concerned citizens. We encourage participants to discuss how national policies are impacting the local Buffalo community.
